Wellington Women's Refuge

Providing support and advocacy services to survivors of domestic violence

Free from fear and violence

Wellington Women’s Refuge provides support, advocacy and education to survivors of domestic violence, empowering them to make safe decisions for their future. We provide the option of a safe house, and also support in the community. We operate a 24-hour crisis telephone line assisted by a roster of trained volunteers outside working hours.

Women’s Refuge is a non for profit organisation. We receive around 1/2 of our funding from the government to provide our services; the rest we seek though applying for grants and through donations from the public. The demand for our services has been steadily increasing. Each year we support over 300 women and their children.
